Falcons Jr Premier League (FJPL) is a Cricket tournament that is conducted over two weekends in the month of June, usually the weekend before the schools close for summer.
What’s unique about this tournament?
It’s unique because it’s played with a soft tennis ball – no gear or equipment required – just bring your bat and sports shoes and we will provide you the rest! We might have been the first ones to bring a soft tennis ball tournament to New Jersey!

How to register?
Team Registration
We recommend that a parent volunteer step up as a coach and create a team of interested kids and register with us. Please click here to submit your interest of participating in the tournament
Individual Registration
You can also register individually too. We will have the player in a pool that all the teams that have registered will have access to. A team manager that has a shortfall of players will then contact the parent directly for including the kid in their team. Once the child is placed in a team, the team manager will run the practice and training sessions to get the child and the team ready for the tournament. What’s the Format?
- Games will be played with the soft tennis ball
- There are three age categories – U10, U12 and U14
- Each team will get to play a minimum of three games
- U10 will be 9 a side and 9 over game (9 overs per innings)
- U12 and U14 will be 11 a side and 12 over game (12 overs per innings)
- U10 needs to have a roster of minimum 9 players. We do suggest to keep the total roster to under 12 players to provide an equal chance to everyone
- U12 and U 14 need to have a roster of minimum 12 players. We do suggest to keep the total roster to under 15 players to provide an equal chance to everyone
What’s Date of Birth Cutoff for the different age categories for the 2021 tournament?
Please follow the below cutoff guideline for the teams you are forming:
An younger player is allowed to play up, however an older player cannot play down.
For example
A kid who is born on June 2nd 2010 will play for U10. Someone who is born before June 1, 2010 will play U12.
U14
Born on or after June 1, 2006 and before May 31, 2008
U12
Born on or after June 1, 2008 and before May 31, 2010
U10
Born on or after June 1, 2010. No upper limit here, though we suggest the kid to be at least 7 years old

What’s the history of FJPL?
The first edition, which was called Falcons Jr Champions League was hosted in 2017 at Martin Luther King Elementary School grounds over two weekends. It was a hugely successful event which was supported by the Mayor, Township of Edison and the Board of Education. Mayor Thomas Lankey himself with Councilman Ajay Patil, Councilman Joseph Coyle and the now Education Board President Jingwei “Jerry” Shei graced the occasion and gave away the medals and certificates to all the participating kids. It was an honor to have their presence and their encouragement and support have pushed us to work harder in not only generating interest of Cricket among the residents and parents, but also among the youth! Though our roster has grown to about 80 kids in the past 2 years, the focus on quality and low cost have progressively become the pillars of our existence.
